My tryst with the spoilers

There's nothing worse for a movie lover than knowing what's gonna happen next in the movie before you've  even watched it.
I'm sure many can relate to the idea as all of you at any point of time would have faced something that I'm facing right now. And as I write this dramatic post, I swear I'm cursing the mega search engine Google for this fate of mine that now seems to be worse than death.
Yes, the Google as it has this unfettered access to each and everything that makes it totally unavoidable sometimes. Unavoidable and cancerous too..'coz you also fall prey to it and end up picking up on the stuff that you should really avoid to not turn your 'spoiler' into 'super spoiler'.

And it's not just a one time thing; it happens to you again and again. I'm sure nobody has forgotten the famous 'Red Wedding' spoiler of 'Game of Thrones' or 'The Girl with yellow umbrella' one from 'How I Met Your Mother'. And the saga doesn't just stop there. So beware if you've promised yourself that you're not going to fall for any such thing coz you never know when you're already the victim.

As a matter of fact, this time for me it has happened with 'Downton Abbey'. I started watching this series with full fervour, courtesy to the colonial era, heavy accent, amazing dresses and pretty faces. I watched the season 1 without any hassle, getting surprised at the moments that were meant for it. It just so happened the other day I was introducing one of my friends to the 'Downton' stars and as I started googling 'Lady Sybil', my screen popped up with the searches mentioning 'Lady Sybil dies' (That would happen in season 4). It broke my heart not only because it snatched away my 'Holy cow!' moment but also because Sybil is my favourite 'Downton Abbey' star. An ultra modern, ahead of her time, naive and oh-so beautiful Sybil- who in my view should be the one who should live throughout the 'Downton' saga.

And as I already said, the story never just stops there. It made me prick up my ears more and more and I  now know who Lady Mary (another character from Downton Abbey) is married to and how many children the couple have and the other little related details.

Guess it's gonna take me this blog until I do take my frustration out and stop thinking about it. Or maybe I'd better start finishing up this series.

Hoping I don't run across another spoiler!

The loss...that I feel sometimes!

Sounds like an emotional topic! Well, it is. And as emotional as it sounds, I'm at a total loss; the loss of my life's significance...the loss of patience...the loss of right words for the right moment...the loss of control that I usually used to have...the loss of everything. Apparently, it's not leading me anywhere but to darkness. Darkness, where I can't find myself...where I'm losing myself more and more everytime I try to step up...where I've nobody to turn to. And as pathetic as it sounds, it's true. But all I can do is sit quietly and wait for it to go.

But the thing that I don't realize until now is that I've been doing it all wrong. I'm waiting for the darkness to go away; when it's just the absence of light. I'm sad and at loss because I don't have something significant that brightens up my day; or maybe that's what I believe. Maybe I do have that significant thing in my life but I'm looking for more. But am I not supposed to look for more? Because what I do know is that we should always try to make something of our life, our relationships, or friendships, et al. Easier said then done! Had it been so, I woudn't have been feeling this grief-stricken.

As a matter of fact, I can't even negate the one true fact i.e. After winter, must come spring. At least I'm this optimistic. Meanwhile I've been doing a little bit of thinking lately. Because you know when you're sad, you think about life like you've never thought before. And that somehow made me reach to some conclusions in my life. These conclusions vary from the friendship to the relationship that I share with the people around me to the goals that I set for myself.

Starting with the friendship, I think I've already written about it here at some length before. But the stuff that I realized this time around is a bit different. Here I'm talking about drawing a conclusion; and I pretty much succeeded in that. So going by the definition that says A friend is someone who's always available for you through thick and thin, I would say I'm blessed to have two really good friends. They have been there for me always and I was never at the loss of words while discussing life with them. And trust me, I did thorough testing. ;)

Coming down to relationships that I share with people around me, it came out to be a little disappointing. I studied people around me and drew the conclusion that I'm mostly unwanted or undesired. I would have used the term 'social pariah' but I would leave it for my self-loathing self that is not keen to show up as of now. Next time, maybe!

Goals that I've set for myself! Trust me, I've set a thousand of them; some changes every now and then and some stays waiting to be accomplished. But dang, no luck as of now. I'm not at a loss of how to go about it; the only thing that's missing here is the dedication. Maybe over the time!

While I'm not fully able to comprehend the reason behind all this thinking, I sure understand what it feels like to find significance in the wrong things. For that matter, this piece has been like a guide for me throughout this time of loss. And yes, LOVELARS, I do understand the feeling when you ask 'Have you ever had those moments where you find yourself getting upset with yourself for getting upset?' Yes, I've been having those moments lately and all I can feel is 'loss'.

Hoping it would soon go away!

 Until then,

Delhi Diary: Dilli Haat

I've this one basic thought that I always believe in- Whenever you want to explore a place, explore it like a tourist would do. So, it has been around my two years in Delhi and I would say I've explored it all.

And as I don't mind taking a badge of 'Adventurer' from Foursquare, I think it's time I share my wisdom regarding the touristy places that you can visit in Delhi. I'm tagging the places as touristy coz they give you the taste of Delhi. In fact, as winters are coming, I've decided to give visit to each one of them again.

And as I was at Dilli Haat the other day, so why not begin the 'Delhi Diary' series with this very episode. And may I say the idea of doing this blog post came from this very visit. So, it makes double sense now. Doesn't it?

When I first heard the name, I thought it's going to be a place where you can get the real touch of Delhi. You know the 'chole-bhature', street collection, etc. But contrary to that, it showcases a little something from every state of India. Yes, that's the charm of Dilli Haat.

But sadly I couldn't cover it all this time due to excessive downpour.

So, here are a few pictures of the things that I covered.

I don't remember where I clicked this one. But it doesn't really matters as every stall was colourful in its own way.

This I remember was at Tamil Nadu stall. These were the different sorts of 'vadas' at display.

The famous 'rava' dosa from Tamil Nadu! And may I tell you it was indeed delicious. This you are hearing from a non-'dosa' fan. So you can imagine!

These two pictures are from Navdanya Organic Food. We couldn't bring ourselves to have a taste from this stall. You can guess why. ;)

Last time when I visited the place, I had 'pabda' fish from West Bengal stall. And it was good too. I'm sure I have its picture somewhere. I'll post it as soon as I find it.

And this is it! It was a good fun. And I would say it's one of the must-visit places in Delhi. So, when are you planning to visit?

For the love of music

Music is a key to a happy day. That's what I firmly believe in. Especially these days. Oh yes! And as there is no joy other than sharing a good music, I'm here to share some of the finest songs that I like the most.

So, here is my playlist.

Lemon Tree (Oasis): First in the list and the most played. You gotta listen to it if you want to get a faint idea how good this song is.

500 miles (The Proclaimers): Grey's Anatomy introduced me to this one and it instantly made it to my 'My Favourite' playlist. Watch the flashmob, give attention to the lyrics and you will know; as it did make me sappy the first time.

Baby I'm Yours (Breakbot): The beat, the graphics, the lyrics and the music- the perfect music that can easily top the charts. Headphones in, world out...like really!

Walk of Life (Dire Straits):I know...this one is a little old but it never fails to make my day.

Rockstar (Nickelback): Last but not the least in today's list is none other than 'Rockstar'. An absolute bliss and holds true word for word.

These five songs are my top five most played songs and I don't think I'm gonna get enough of it. And courtesy to my wonder ear phones from Sennheiser, I feel every beat. ;)

Video Games and all that shit!

As vague as it may sound but the recent realizations made me see it in a different light. I’m quite a typical when it comes to video games- for me they are nothing but a means to pass time… a waste of time in other words. And in view of passing the time, I found myself pretty much stuck with this super addictive game called ‘Temple Run’. Not to mention it, I am still trying to get rid of this addiction. But this was until recently that I realized it’s more of a learning thing than just a game. A game that can teach more than just serving your leisure!

The first and the foremost thing that it teaches is to concentrate. The funny thing is we don’t have to put effort to concentrate here. It’s just so. But we do understand that concentration is the one thing that you can’t do away with.

Second in the list is timing. Perfect timing is what you need and perfect timing is what you need to work upon. That defines and makes your game. Not just the ‘game’ game but the actual happenings around you.

Next comes the consistency! For me, it’s one of the most important stuff to deal with. And sadly I suck at it. Quite frankly, it seems to me an amalgamation of all the above traits plus speed and practice.

Last but not the least, it teaches us to define the proverb ‘Practice makes a man perfect.’ And I can’t agree more, given that the more you practice, the better you become at your game.

I’m sure there is more than this. But for now, I can come down to these few points only. Hope to add a few more to my list.

Until later,
G

Eternal Friendship

One thing that is certain and defines all relationship is ‘friendship’. Believe it or not- it does act as the center of universe and rules our lives. Be it any relationship, it never fails to play its role. And one thing that I am absolutely sure of is that without friendship you’re definitely missing out something on your relationship or may be it is just left for the namesake. While all these thinking and logic make the concept of ‘friendship’ totally worth having, there is one thing that I’m totally uncertain of and that is ‘Eternal Friendship’.

I personally know many a people who claim to be ‘Best Friends Forever’ but I’m really not convinced- to the extent that it’s just another category for me. That’s why I avoided using the title ‘Best Friends Forever’ for this post…because I’m talking about the eternal friend here- the one that is for life and sticks around with you through thick and thin. The one who thinks the world of you and whom you can call anytime you need. The one who takes care of your special moments and is always there for you without fail. Sounds utopic, indeed! Personally I've never found that one true friend who has always been by my side. Over the time I made some great friends whom I would put under the BFF category but ‘eternal friendship’…what’s that!? I’m still alien to this category.

Or is it just the philosophy or the utopic concept that we have framed which constantly leads us to work up to the next level? Though I sincerely doubt that, here I’m stealthily hoping to find that one true friend one fine day. Isn't that what we all hope for!?

And as further and further I think about the whole thing, I think maybe it’s the one person that becomes your happily-ever-after. Makes a lot of sense here! Because you can be sure as hell that you’re going to spend the rest of your life with that person whom the world calls your soul-mate. But what if you end up with a total wrong person!? And believe me the odds of this happening is fairly high. This again pushes me to avoid having another think coming and to really think things through.

So where do we find this ‘eternal friend’ is an eternal question in itself. And the answer seems to be quite elusive. While the quest goes on and on, one thing that is certain is the need to work up your existing friendship. Who knows you might find your ‘eternal friend’ in your existing lot.

Celeb Influence

Whenever a celeb quotes something, it appeals to the people like anything. Be it on fashion, make-up or anything that matters, they always tend to listen to them and react to them. And when somebody like Angelina Jolie goes out with her story, then it is bound to create ripples. Her recent revelation about her double mastectomy does lead to the same. And the amazing thing is she has made her point very well here. A point that warns you against breast cancer.

Where cancer is a disease that instils fear in people and makes life a disaster for many, there is always a precaution that needs to be held. Early check-ups can always be a saviour here. Not many of you know that it is possible to find out through a blood test if you are highly susceptible to breast or ovarian cancer. Early detection can always help. Jolie’s story is an inspiration for many.

For being so bold and so strong, she does deserve a salute. Such very public revelation of life calls for courage. Courage to risk a high peaked career, courage to risk an image as a sex symbol…courage to risk very private details of her life. But she chose to come forward and alert other women the risk they are taking. And I’m sure this act must have alerted many a woman.

Angelina Jolie has really redefined her celeb status. The very essence lies in to using your influence to help the people take on their lives. And if your words are heard, the best thing is to always tell the things that matters.

Who inspired ‘Rajinikanth’?

Ironic it may seem but it’s true. Not many would know that our very own Rajinikanth is actually inspired by an American star Chuck Norris. And we thought it all starts from Rajinikanth and ends at Rajinikanth.  Time for a reality check, guys! Read through these and decide for yourself:

·         Chuck Norris can strangle you with a cordless phone
·         Chuck Norris can speak Braille
·         Chuck Norris’ blood type is AK-47
·         Chuck Norris runs on his treadmill until the treadmill gets tired
·         Chuck Norris is the only person that can punch a Cyclops between the eye
·         Chuck Norris doesn’t flush the toilet. He scares the shit out of it.
(Courtesy to The Hindu for the lines)

Translate these lines into desi tongue and they will be Rajinikanth’s supernatural act. And as they say originality is nothing but undetected plagiarism, I wonder who would have inspired Chuck Norris’ persona.

Fifty Shades of Grey

Christian Grey. Sigh! Now that I've read this series of Fifty Shades trilogy, this name is itself a delight. Minus the erotic part, the major reason of reading this series by E.L. James is this character who has the certain quality of bewitching ladies. The story continues, and the character becomes more and more intense, more and more grey until the end of the third part. The fifty shades of his character never fails to amaze. And the fact that inside those shades of grey, there lies a Christian that makes him so un-'fifty'.
Anyhow as I go in the retrospect, I am going to give y’all the insight into his persona and some of the parts that have become my favourite- how he woos Ana (his love interest), Ana's effect on him and the reason why he can attract anybody in no second. So, here is a chronological insight that I personally noted:

Hot & Mysterious: There’s always something about the hot and mysterious guys. Isn't it? As much as Grey's charm amuses, he seems to be a complete enigma. And this aura is being maintained in all the three novels of 50 shades.

Stalker: In a good way! He knows woman loves chase and he is himself no less than a chaser… a serious chaser. He tracks his girl down and has all kind of details about her, and in no way he seems to be pesky.

Laters, baby: So un-'fifty' but somehow so him! He is not a romantic kind but whenever he uses this line, it seems like his own signature phrase.

Email conversation: My favourite! <3 Reading these email exchanges between Christian Grey and Anastasia Steele, I’m surely a fan of 'shouty' capitals, their subject lines and signatures.
A trail of conversation for reference (Mind the capital, subject and the signature):

----------------

50 shades: No novel in this series loses the fifty shades of Grey. He is all the same mysterious, hot, full of anger and love at the same time. Be it making Ana (eat or being a total control freak or  his readiness to pick  up the gauntlet whenever Ana throws down one! Each and every line of his description and his dialogues refer to his fifty shades.

All in all, it was a delight to meet Mr. Grey and it was fun to know that he indeed aims to please. ;)

Laters, y'all!

P.S. To really enjoy this piece, you do need to read 'Fifty Shades of Grey'. :)

Birthday week and the strings attached with it

For the happy and enthusiastic self, Bryan Adam is no doubt the inspiration. Yes, I’m talking about the famous 18 till I die anthem.

‘I wanna be young the rest of my life…I'm gonna be 18 till I die - 18 till I die’

Much to the contrary, I always wanted to grow old and that too too fast. I always wanted to live on my own, wanted to skip those adolescent years to enjoy my 20’s with fun and fervour. But much to my disappointment, it’s nothing like that. All I want now is to skip the coming years and jump onto the future. Or maybe the nicer idea will be to peek into the future so that I get a fairer idea what’s in store. Or maybe I should drop this idea too as the more uncertain the life is, the better it is for you. Well, such is life.

But it’s not just about the uncertainty that I carry along with me with every passing year, it’s the cluelessness that surrounds me during my b’day week. The cluelessness when every other person asks ‘Oh, it’s your b’day coming. Excited?’ Excited! Really…for the added number to my age or for the extra baggage that it brings along. For once I wish I could find myself at a place I want myself to see during this week that year in future. Until then I hope this video could help me chill!

P.S. Surprisingly while I'm waiting for all the unexpected calls to come, there is this one wish that has totally caught me off guard. And it's from Google. Well, it is kind of a surprise call. Atleast for me. :)

Media Sensationalisation

Or shall I just say YouTube sensationalisation? Well, it is directly and indirectly connected with YouTube only. Isn't it? And, more than that it revolves around the basic human nature of us that loves this phenomenon of sensationalisation. But I’m not going to concentrate here on this very human nature. Instead I’m going to recollect all the sensationalism that happened in the past couple of years, minus the excessive use of this ‘S’ term. ;)

And as I write this piece, I remember this chapter from my English book back in school. The chapter was ‘Cutie Pie’ by Nicolas Frisk and I don’t remember the line word for word but I do remember it talked about how much we love sensationalism and how short-lived a public memory is. And, honestly, I can’t seem to disagree. Neither would you once you finish reading this blog.

So, without browsing much on internet, if I look into the past and recollect all the hullabaloos, the first thing that I can remember is ‘Why this Kolavari-Kolaveri Di’. Remember? It started with Rajinikanth’s SIL, Dhanush in late March 2012 and after that many an amateur singer including Sonu Nigam’s son tried his/her hands on it. The song and versions of it account for more than 50 million of YouTube's total views. And that’s really something.

The next on my list is ‘Oppam Gangnam Style’. And I must confess I was head over heels for this one. The song by South Korean musician PSY was released in July 2012 and it became a rage in no time. ‘Gangnam Style’ became the first YouTube video to reach a billion views. Its signature moves were attempted by many notable political leaders such as the British Prime Minister David Cameron, U.S. President Barack Obama, and United Nations Secretary-General Ban Ki-Moon, who hailed it as a "force for world peace". Long story short and thus PSY became an ‘international sensation’.

Last but not the least, it’s Harlem shake meme that is the ‘in’ thing. A little history: The song ‘Harlem Shake’ by American electronic musician Baauer released in 2012. It didn't gain much popularity until when a group of five teenagers from Australia known as The Sunny Coast Skate uploaded a meme in February, 2013. The video has become viral with many people replicating the same concept on their video. Still too early to give it a YouTube count!

So, these are a few that I can remember. I’m sure there are many that I've skipped but then again they were supposed to be forgotten. Ain't they?

Guess who gotta go to the Zee Café Gossip Girl Night Out!

That’s me. Hell yes! Me and my friend got it, and we had a Gossip Girl night out at Hard Rock Café. And as much as I hate to flaunt it, I love to tell you all that I won Gossip Girl goodies too. Yayay! Ooops…that was a little Blair-ish. Wasn’t it? Anyhow, I gotta go to the party and that was quite a delight.

But I'll start with how we managed to get an invite. Well, I watch this show ‘Gossip Girl’ every night at 10pm on Zee Café. Wait, I don’t need to say it’s my favourite. Or do I!? :D Coming to the invitation story, I saw the advertisement where they were like ‘Tweet, tag your bestie and use #ZeeCafeGirlsNightOut, and win an invite’. I called my friend the very moment and we started tweeting as it was our chance to have a Gossip Girl fun. And, guess what…we won it. But that’s not the end to the story. Well, there was a slight confusion as we tweeted to Zee Café and HRC both. And we thought we lost it. But we didn't. Who wouldn't want to invite the ardent Gossip Girl fans like us!? :/ Te-hee.

Now coming to the main event, I was damn excited but all the excitement turned into disappointment when I realized we were quite late to the party. The party started at 6:30pm and we reached at around 7:45pm. And as soon as we reached, we asked the guy outside if it’s over but to our delight, he answered it’s just started. Whoa! And there started our #ZeeCafeGirlsNightOut. ;)

It was in true sense a Gossip Girl party. Loads of girls modelled themselves on S & B. Some just chose awe-inspiring pins. Some went for the regal look. Some went as fashionable as possible. Some gathered attention and some seemed like minions. The games that were organized were indeed awesome. There was this game where we had to paste a kiss sticker on Chuck’s cheek (poster :()…let’s just say we had to kiss Chuck. J Surprisingly, nobody spotted Dan and Nate. Guess Mother Chucker took away all the attention. And he deserved that. I remember when the show was in its first season Chuck seemed to me like an extra. And now here we are with Chuck …Chuck all around. Lol The other game was Chinese whisper, the Gossip Girl style. We had to whisper Gossip Girl quotes to our team and whosoever did maximum quotes would win. Well, our emcee was indeed a sweetheart to announce both the teams as winners.

But what made it an exclusive Gossip Girl party was the ‘Gossip Girl’ siren. Oh yeah! We were supposed to tweet all the time and whoever tweeted the maximum was the clear winner. And, believe me, that was the most ‘fun’ part. Every now and then we were checking out our phones, tweeting another tweet and doing it all in ‘Gossip Girl’ style. Yes, we were.  Remember when Gossip Girl siren goes off amidst a party. That was that. And I had my moment of Queen B as I won it. Yuhoooo! Besides me, there were two other winners (one of them was my friend). But I was the one who tweeted maximum. Why!? ‘Coz I’m the real Gossip Girl. D'uh!

It was indeed one hell of a party and I loved it to the fullest.

XOXO

New artist on the block

I am a 22 year girl. I love all kinds of creative stuff to do. It may be art, craft, handicraft, dance, music or anything. I am inspired with no person, not any personality but by nature, everything created by god. For me life is to give happiness to others.

Here I am sharing my few arts with you:

It’s a painting to show a lonely girl flying alone with her dreams.

It’s a sketch art piece, drawn when I was sitting and was wondering about my favorite flowers. It was one of my first complete sketch piece.

It is a poster made to introduce hostel people about hostel day celebration and different competition during my graduation.

A sketching to depict an old man sitting on his relaxing chair and reading.

Here's another one.

About the 'Guest Blogger': Neha is a 22 year old working girl and a dear friend. She is an artist by passion and is looking forward to making her career in designing and all.

Meet Julie & Julia!

Yesterday, it was Women’s Day. Not that I did something special, but I did watch this movie specially telecasted for the occasion on Zee Studio- ‘Julie & Julia’ (specially telecasted for the occasion) and got way too inspired. A good movie is all you need to graduate from a sulken to a happy state. I couldn’t agree more now.

Well, the movie is based on two real life stories. And it inspires you to take inspiration from the living legends and keep moving. Just as the tagline says ‘Passion. Ambition. Butter. Do You Have What It Takes?’ Well, you can replace ‘butter’ with the ingredient that is apt for your life.

The movie is about the chef Julia Child and an author Julie Powell. Both are from different worlds but their lives are intertwined with a common passion… passion for food. Julie takes inspiration from Julia and keep writing her blog, ‘Julie/Julia Project’ (a blog chronicling her attempt to cook Julia’s recipes).

As much as I liked the femme power in the movie, I salute the husbands behind these two powerful ladies who literally inspired them everytime the wives lost hope. They say ‘Behind every successful man, there is a woman’. But you can’t avoid the man behind a successful woman. It takes courage to be that man.

By and large, the movie was about womanhood and was a perfect end to Women’s Day.
Belated Happy Women’s Day!

P.S. Did I mention I loved Meryl Streep in the movie? I'm now. She was a delight to watch and it was she who made Julia's character amazingly superb.

Love,
G

Oscar: What made it more exciting [contd.]

Oscar! The name itself makes you feel excited. But what makes Oscar more special is the ‘thing’ that digitalizes it. While the Hollywood was there in the Dolby Theatre for The Academy Awards, our own 'Oscar' was going live on Twitter.

Data says all in all there were 8.9 million tweets about Oscar: 2.1 million during the Red Carpet and 6.8 million during the award show. That says it all.

While Twitter gave us an all-access pass to the show, the presenters over there entertained the tweeples by asking to tweet the #BestDressed celebrity. And the result of this informal voting was none other than Jennifer Lawrence. (Any doubt, just look at her dress )

Apart from that, we talked about the event as it unfolded. From best actress to best movie to best song, we tweeted it all. We tweeted when they gave salute to Bond, we tweeted when Adele performed, we tweeted when the best actress Jennifer Lawrence tripped over the voluminous skirt of her dress and we tweeted when the emcee Seth Macfarlane made some of the crudest jokes.

And not just that, like a good critic we gave our valuable fashion advice to the divas. One such advice was for Anne Hathaway. Infact she managed to get her own hashtag, #AnnesNipps. Courtesy to her pink Prada gown. Oh… and her slit. Déjà vu! It reminded us of #Jolieslegs. You sure were on the rocks on Twitter, Anne.

That’s how we took Oscar to Twitter. And honestly 140 characters didn’t seem to be less for the first time. A real fun, it was.

Oscar: Glitz and glamour

Oscar is over and so is the thrill. But we are left with some funny and amazing moments. It’s obviously exciting to catch all the ‘red-carpet’ people under one roof. It’s not just for the heck of Hollywood love. But for all the glitz and glamour! Well, if not for guys, atleast I feel that way.
From the crude comedy of Seth Macfarlane to the random salute to James Bond to the surprise appearance of the First Lady, the Oscar had it all. Yes, it did face a thumb down. But again, what’s an ‘event’ without some drama!

But I’m not here to get into that. What I’m interested to talk about is- who wore ‘who’, what made some steal the show and what made us feel the excitement.

Who wore ‘who’ and how they stole the show- As much as I’m interested in all the glitzy affairs the celebrities go through, I think they sometimes get underrated. It’s kinda less about them, more about the dresses. Innit?
But who cares? We are anyway more interested in dresses.

So, here are the details:
(I’m only mentioning my favourites :P and of course those who won :))

Jennifer Aniston: A red Valentino Couture spring 2013 gown (which made her feel princess-ly, as she said) with Fred Leighton jewels, a Salvatore Ferragamo clutch and the diamond engagement ring that fiancé Justin Theroux designed. She avoided any hair-do and stayed with her the famous ’Rachel Greene’ style as she didn’t want to Disney-fy the whole apparel. Smart choice, Jen.

Anne Hathaway: A pink Prada. Well, that turned out to be a disaster. Though she was supposed to wear a Valentino that pretty looks like Amanda Seyfried’s Alexander McQueen dress, but she ditched it. Whatever they call, but I kinda liked her dress. As she defined ‘business in the front, party in the back’. Totally, Anne.

Kristine Stewart: Nuh-uh. Not my favourite. But because of the unusual accessory that she flaunted- crutches. So, except crutches, she wore a Reem Acra dress with one Jimmy Choo heel, one Bloch shoe, and Fred Leighton jewels...and messy hair. Reminds of her Twilight ball party with Edward? Huh?

Jessica Chastain: Most girls dream about their wedding dresses, but Jessica Chastain dream about her Oscar dresses. So, it had got to be right. She wore an Armani Prive gown that complemented her curves.

Jennifer Lawrence: And here’s the #BestDressed. (according to Twitter) She looked amazing in her ChristianDior gown with Brian Atwood shoes, and a Roger Vivier clutch. Fabulous! She definitely stole the show.

Plus or minus whatever, but they did walk the red carpet with élan. And that’s what made us feel the excitement except the Academy Awards, of course. But there’s one more thing that kept our momentum up. And that’s what I’m going to write about in my next piece.

Until later,

My Favourite seven

I’m a girl and I love to accessorize myself. Ok. The second part I don’t do that often but I do love it. My love for accessories just gain momentum whenever I see Phoebe Buffay (Lisa Kudrow from F.R.I.N.D.S.) flaunting those big statement jewelleries and the flamboyant Serena (Blake Lively from Gossip Girl) donning anything and everything. And time and again it has impulsed me into buying those chunky pieces and other stuff.

So, here’s to my love for accessories.

Some of my stuff that I bought some time back and some that I bought lately. A sneak peek! ;)

  • These vintages sunglasses, I bought from Promod. It was an accidental buy. But after certain I started loving them way too much. I flaunted it quite a lot back then.

  • I bought this neck-piece from Janpath (New Delhi) two years. As soon as I saw it hanging in the wall, there was a sudden urge to buy it. Sadly I never got a chance to wear it. I’m still in search of the perfect outfit with which it can go with.

  • My first buy from Forever 21! Sigh! I've always loved it.

  •  This is to my love for Eiffel Tower! I got it from Accesorize and wore it literally everyday for quite a while.

  • My love for scarves grows more each day. I can wear them every day. This one I like particularly. It’s a silk scarf. I’ll call it a lucky buy as I managed to get it at just Rs. 150. You go there and they will quote it for Rs. 300 or so. Lucky, right.

  •  And these are my pretty pearl earrings from Hyderabadi Pearls. Now you see them in every other shop. These were a gift from a friend.

  •  My love! I bought it just a week ago and I’m in absolute love with them. I wish I soon get a chance to don them.

So, these are my favourite seven. Feel free to comment if you like anything. And I would love to hear some of the shopping destinations where I can get some amazing accessories.

Love,
G

When I really wanted to go home…

Well, it’s the story of me and my struggle to go home. Literally, I rarely want to visit my place.  So, the title seems to be a little vague there. No, it isn't  It’s just when I’m all depressed and I really want somebody to be around me, and as they say “When everything goes to hell, the people who stand by you without flinching -- they are your family. ” But again it’s a miss there too.

The story is different here. A pahadi by birth, I've always been in awe of the beauty that Mother Earth has endowed us with. And do I need to mention that I’m proud when people are like ‘Oh, you are from mountains. Wow!’ J Amazing feel, right. I know! And as I now live in Delhi, almost 16 hrs of non-stop drive from my native town (Pithoragarh). Tiresome! Isn't it? More when you’re a person who turns pale just at the mention of mountain journey.  It’s one hell of a journey for me everytime I plan to go there. Courtesy to the rickety bus and my affinity to mountain sickness!

But what makes me jump to the idea of visiting my place is none other than ‘homesickness’. Ugh. Yes, of course.  And snowfall too. My best part of the year is when it snows. And ever since I decided to leave home for higher studies, I always planned to visit it at that time of the year. But unfortunately it never happened so. And this year too, I was really sure, owing to the weather conditions, that it will definitely snow in January. So, I planned my journey accordingly. But to my bad, no snowfall. To add to the pain, it snowed in February when I’m gone. Thank you, Mother Earth, for being such a spoiler. As much as I really wanted to be there, here’s to the fact that I didn't get to go home when I really wanted to.

Bridget Jones and me

There is always that one novel which portrays your life in a way that makes you wonder if it’s you. And if you ask me about it, I would waste no time in thinking and say ‘Bridget Jones’ Diaries’.
Yes! And this is not only applied to me but to all those single girls who are struggling with their life every passing day. I bet all you girls…you read this novel once and you can easily tell a few moments where you can relate yourself to the character, Bridget Jones.

Here are some of my moments which makes wonder if Bridget Jones is based on me.

Zero love life: Bridget seems to be unlucky in love and has a real sad love life…or you might call it a zero love story. Here the case is same. And the common question that plagues both of us is ‘How’s your love life?’ Damn!

Craving for that sleek figure: There was a time when all I wanted was to be sleek. And I did everything I could to get that size zero thing. And I got that. But good grief, I got everything but complements. Hysterically, the same happened with Jones.

Impulsive Mother: Apparently reasons are different here but my Mom is no less impulsive than Bridget’s Mum.

Regular insecurities: This is the one that holds the stark similarity. Single woman living alone in a big city! What can you expect!

Last but not the least, Bridget is an Aries. ;)

And if I start reading the novel again, I’m sure I can come up with many more.
